This gelato is from a gelato place called Frost, located in Tucson, Arizona on 7131 N. Oracle Rd. There are a variety of flavors, ranging from dark chocolate to strawberry and champagne. I chose the strawberry champagne gelato, which was very fruity and tart. Perfect if you have a sweet tooth! I would definitely recommend going here because the presentation makes it impossible not to buy it!
MANUEL'S FRIED ICECREAM
I went out to Manuel's Mexican food for dinner (located on 2820 East Indian School Rd.). After making fried icecream with my friend Sarah (refer to the How To Make tab on the home page) I wanted to see whether home made fried icecream or restuarant style was better. Before taking the time to make it on my own, I thought Manuel's had the best fried icecream....but not anymore! Home made fried icecream is much thicker, hence producing more of what you want. Manuel's is still great when I don't have the energy to make fried icecream myself, but there is definitely a difference between the two! It was fun experimenting and seeing which one was better! At Manuel's, there are options for strawberry, chocolate, or caramel topping. When I made it, we used both chocolate and honey. So it is nice to have some freedom on individualizing desserts if you ever decide to make them yourself! Overall, I've realized I can never get tired of fried icecream so hopefully you will try it sometime!
DARK CHOCOLATE GELATO
I indulged in this dark chocolate gelato at Spinatos restaurant, located on 16th st. and Bell Road. Once again, my good friend, Sarah, and I decided to go here JUST for the dessert. This gelato was to die for, with a thick and creamy dark chocolate texture. It went great with the cannolis that we received right afterwards as well! Definitely a must-have for anyone that loves dark chocolate!
CANNOLI
GIANT COOKIE
I was able to enjoy this cookie in my pyschology class last Friday. One of the students in my class works at Paradise Bakery, located on 2502 E Camelback Rd (the Biltmore) and decided to bring one in. This giant cookie was original chocolate chip, and with it being Friday and all, we were in desperate need of celebration of the week's end!
CHOCOLATE CAKE
I enjoyed this amazing chocolate cake at Pastiche, located on 3025 North Campbell Ave in Tucson, Arizona. I was visiting my siblings down at the University of Arizona, so my sister and I decided to go here for dinner. Pastiche is known as a modern eatery, ranging mainly from salads to burgers. It is more of a south-wester type style cusine. For dessert, we got the chocolate cake after looking at the dessert menu. The thick layers of cake are separated by what I thought was ganache. And I will say, it was amazing! Very rich and flavorful to see the least! However, the restaurant itself was a little pricey, but still totally worth it!
FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE
My friend Sarah and I decided to make a flourless chocolate cake a few weeks ago. The mission: to make a cake as dense as possible.....and we DEFINITELY succeeded. For those of you who have never tried a flourless chocolate cake before, imagine an incredibly dense cake, similar to dark chocolate mousse (which is what it looked like inside, except for that fact that it tasted way richer). We topped it off with homeade ganache, which is like a thick fudge frosting. When it was finally finished, you could say that we created the most chocolately dessert ever.
FRUIT TART
I indulged in this fruit tart last week after my older brother's girlfriend brought it over. Her name is Lauren and she is really good at making sweets. This fruit tart had sugar cookie dough for the crust, a cool whip and cream cheese filling, and a beautiful variety of fruits to top it all off. Naturally, I am not the biggest fan of cream cheese, but I let it slide on this fruit tart because it was reallllllly good! I thought the sugar cookie crust was the best part. Lauren also added some fruit sauce to the tart and that made it even sweeter. A very smart move on her part!
